Small Groups

Treasuring Christ in all of life…together.

At The North Church, small groups gather periodically to engage in community, love fellow believers, and become accountable to others. Small Groups also provide an avenue for disciples to use their spiritual gifts in order to build up the church body.

Small Groups primarily provide a space for peer discipleship and a loving, joyful community while also pushing for maturity and godliness. To do so, we eat together, look to God's word together, pray together, and sing together.

Small Group Values at The North Church

Community | For groups to grow together in friendship and the care of souls, group members must commit themselves to one another. The details will vary, but life-on-life connection, overlap, and relationship are the goals of a small group at The North Church.

Vulnerability | In order for soul care to happen, group leaders push for an environment of vulnerability. As groups develop, we hope members will increasingly know one another at a personal level. Each person should be able to answer the question, “Is there anything I don’t know?” with increasing certainty.

Honesty | The corollary to vulnerability is honesty. By the grace of God, we hope group members will speak honestly with one another even as they share openly together. Honest communication takes on a variety of forms, some of which Paul describes in 1 Thessalonians 5:14, “And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.”

Joy | We hope for small groups to provide opportunities for treasuring Christ and enjoying the good gift of friendship through all seasons and stages of life.

Lead A Group

If you desire a community with the values and goals reflected above, you might also be the right person to cultivate such a community. Leadership does not require an advanced degree in Bible or a certificate in leading discussions. Instead, we hope that our leaders will pursue Christ as individuals, love this church body, and eagerly foster community values for fellow believers in our church.
