At The North Church we want to help you build a solid and lasting foundation for your marriage - one that will glorify God and deepen your joy. If you’re considering marriage, engaged to be married, or currently married and want a refresher, we invite you to attend our Foundations for Marriage class. During this class we’ll take time to look at God’s Word, answer your questions, and provide you with opportunities as a couple to interact together. Topics addressed will include the gospel and marriage, roles in marriage, communication, conflict, and sexual intimacy.
Date/Time: This two-part class will take place on Saturday, February 14th and Saturday, February 21st from 8:30am-3:30pm.
Location: The class will be held at The North Church (5151 Program Avenue, Mounds View 55112) in the Commons.
Cost: The cost for this class is $75/couple and will cover snacks and lunch (including gluten free options) for both Saturdays as well as all class materials. Those who register by December 14th will receive a discounted early bird rate of $60/couple!
Instructor: The class will be led by our Pastor for Counseling, Brian Liechty. During the second Saturday of the class, there will be a Q+A panel discussion involving three of our elders with their wives.
Event Contact: If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Lulu Robinson, Administrative Assistant for Counseling.
Additional note for engaged couples who attend The North Church: This class is not meant to take the place of premarital counseling nor does it guarantee that the church will marry you. That said, it does significantly reduce the amount of time you would need to meet with a pastor. In most cases, those who take this class will only need 2-3 sessions of premarital counseling. Given the above, we recommend you take this class first and then contact the church office to coordinate your premarital counseling.
Upon completion of this class you will receive a certificate that states you have completed 12 hours of premarital education (including teaching on communication and conflict management skills) which will partially fulfill the requirements of the state to receive a discount on your marriage license. In order to fulfill the remainder of the state’s requirements you must have your wedding officiant complete a premarital inventory and provide you with a notarized form saying all of the requirements have been met.
Registration is open now through February 4th: Click here to register.
